TRUTH OR SCARE

One truth or dare experience that I will never forget took place in Colorado at my friend Lori's house on the 12th birthday. It was me, Stephanie, Lori, Natasha, Sarah, Bethany, ad a few other people. It was a typical birthday party. We all came over, played games, watched a movie, and had cake and ice cream.

So it was typical. It was a fun night. We all went to her room for the night. We started by telling ghost stories and then got the idea to build a camp fire outside with her dad's help. We roasted S'mores, and hot dogs, and played hide and seek in the dark which was really fun. After that we went back into the house, got some more sweets and candies and went back to her room.

We sat on her bed and did make up and our nails. I was never a girly girl so it really wasn't fun for e. Then we settled down to watch a scary movie. To this day I can't remember what the movie was due to what happened later that night. It was the night I would never forget.

That has proven to be true, unfortunately. We all decided it would be a good time to play truth or dare, which thinking back to it now; it may be wasn't the best idea. We all sat in a circle and added a little twist to the game. Instead of going in a circle, we spun a bottle. Whoever the neck of the bottle pointed to had to do the truth or dare and whoever the base pointed to choose the question or dare.

Well the neck finally landed in Bethany, who was Lori's 15 year old cousin. We thought it would be funny to have her take a pregnancy test. It was funny needless to say that is until the test popped up positive. We woke up Lori's mom and told her. We all had to go home that night, at three in the morning.

Lucky for Bethany it was a false positive and she wasn't really pregnant. This is the Truth or Dare experience I will never forget.

So, being a boring Friday night that it was, I really had nothing to do.

I texted my friend Kathy and asked her what was going on tonight? She replied, NM PRTY @ MIKES! Can you come up...?

I had not much else to do, so I decided to go. The party was starting to settle down. This party was not one of those notorious parents are out and we have booze parties.

It was just a friendly get together with pizza. As people settled down, Joanne came up with the idea to play a game of Truth or Dare. After a few rounds, it was my turn.

I said: "hmm... Dare." They gave me a dare. "Steve! Go out into these Pennsylvanian woods and get bitten by a tick." It was a really strange dare. Why would they want me to go out and get bitten by a tick?

So I was about to walk out the door, and a huge grin covered my face. There was a wall clock. TICK TICK TICK...

As the seconds went by. AHA! I had gotten them now! I quickly pulled down the clock and went back into the room where everyone was.

I had found a tick, perhaps not the right kind, but nonetheless a tick. I came in, and there everyone stood staring at me with no clothes on.

“Dear God: If I live through this, I will never engage in underage drinking again,” was the silent prayer I repeated in my head as I ran naked down the dark street, an angry Rottweiler following close behind me.

What started out as an innocent game of Truth or Dare got frighteningly real in a matter of seconds. It was late summer; that last, epic, summer before our high school senior year, and my friends and I were trying to get all the fun we could possibly have in before school started in the next few weeks.

After spending the day hanging out at the lake, we gathered in my backyard for a bonfire. Someone sneaked a bottle from their parents’ liquor cabinet. The bottle was passed around and drunk. After a little bit of time passed, a game of Truth or Dare began.

When it was my turn, I chose Dare, like I always did. The dare was to run around the block completely naked. Everyone, including me, giggled as I disrobed. I made everyone promise not to steal or hide my clothes as I made a show out of performing a few stretches to prepare for my big run. I breathed out.

Everyone was cheering for me, chanting my name, egging me on. I began to sprint down the street as my friends gathered in front of my house to watch. I made it down the street and around the corner before things got bad.

About three houses down on the next block, a light snapped on near the side door of the house. One of my neighbors was letting their (not-so-friendly) dog out for their last potty break of the night. A two hundred pound Rottweiler the size of a wild pig squeezed through the opening of the door.

He sniffed around in the side yard before being alerted to something amiss in his territory. He looked up from his quest to find the perfect spot to relieve himself, and saw me, buck naked, making a dash for it. I didn’t realize the trouble I was in until it was too late. I locked eyes with the beast, heard his guttural growl, muttered an “oh sh%#!” and kicked my run into high gear.

What a sight we must have been that hot summer night: I, in my youth, arms and legs flailing as I ran as quickly and silently as I could as that fierce beast of a dog chased me down the block, looking for a midnight snack. I rounded the next corner, in a panic, wondering what would happen if the dog were to catch me.

Would he dismember me? Would I be disfigured? I repeated my silent prayer as I rounded the final corner to the home stretch. My friends were cheering for me, and I had lost the dog somewhere on the other street. Perhaps he had lost interest in the pursuit. Perhaps his owner had called him home.

At that moment, it didn’t matter. I sprinted home, ready to tell my friends the story of how I had fended off the beast. It would be a long time before I played Truth or Dare again.

Once upon a time my brother and two other friends Tony and Carlos were playing the truth or dare game in our backyard.

It was about 7:00. It was my friend Toni's turn he asked me truth or dare I said dare. He dared me to run to the neighbors door knock and run. I went to the door and knocked.

I was about to run when the door swung open. I just stood there. The man just waited for an answer I made up a story that my dog Max ran away and needed help finding him.

So the man asked how he looks like I said brown fur long tail and big ears. He said wait a minute and went in his house. He came back about two minutes later holding a leash and said found him.

I said where he was? He just smiled and handed me the leash, I went back to my yard with the leash. My friends laughed as I told them what happened. Well that's my story.

The dog had a collar with the name Max on it.
